Two weeks ago, I had the great opportunity of attending the ribbon cutting of the Orchard Park Library. This new branch operated by the Meridian Library District (MLD) provides incredible amenities for our residents, from the latest books to access to technology and community meeting spaces. The library was designed for accessibility to all, and it is reflected in everything from the furniture choices to the layout of the materials offered for residents. With a sensory room, interactive learning spaces, and a variety of resources within their collections, the MLD took a lot of time to ensure that every resident can enjoy the new space. They even have a 24-hour access point for reserved materials, and a drive-up book return!
The recent opening of the Orchard Park branch is a testament to our community's commitment to excellence and accessibility. The MLD is a vital partner in our community. In particular, the new Branch (1268 W Orch Pk Dr, Meridian) is a great resource in north Meridian, dedicated to supporting our community through programs such as early literacy initiatives and homework resources.
As you may be aware, tomorrow (Tuesday May 16th) is election day for the MLD board of trustees' elections. As a community, we determine the direction for essential organizations like the library through our commitment to voting.
In addition, the West Ada School District also has a Plant Facilities Levy on the ballot. West Ada is proposing to address growth and repair of facilities, and maintenance for existing infrastructure through this levy. You can find out more about their proposal by visiting the West Ada’s Plant Facility Levy website.
I encourage all residents to participate in this election, and remember the role we play in shaping our community through elections. Be sure to stay informed and research what is on the ballot so you can cast an informed vote. The Ada County Elections website is a great resource to learn more about what will be on the ballot, where to and how to vote.
I am incredibly proud of our community's dedication and willingness to stay engaged on the issues, regardless of where you stand. See you at the polls!
